Academics

The college offers thirteen Undergraduate Programmes (Honours and General) affiliated to the University of Burdwan. The students are mostly First Generation learners hailing from poor economic background and the College provides ample opportunities to the deprived section by taking tutorial classes and other extra classes as and when required.

 

Though economically deprived, our students have attained several laurels in various fields. Some of their results are outstandingly noteworthy, being the topper of the University. The faculty members extend their warm support for the students and enrich themselves by attaining Orientation and Refresher courses and workshops on curriculum development. Our Principal who has retired lately on 30.09.15 was a remarkable personality who was attached to the University as a cream member of academic bodies of UG studies and was awarded the SIKHSHA RATNA by the Govt. of West Bengal in 5thSep 2015.

 

The Academic Calendar of the college and the lesson plans prepared by individual department has detailed programme for every subject (Hons, Gen, and Compulsory) thus enabling the teacher and the taught to have a total glimpse of the academic world that they are part of. In addition to this, the College offers field studies/visits, project works, excursions, debates, quizzes, seminars, extempore to appropriate holistic excellence in academic field. The College facilitates innovative teaching-learning programmes through seminars based on curriculum, audio-visual mode of teaching, study tour, excursion, field work, use of digitalized library and upgraded laboratories.

The College publishes annual magazine ‘Balaka’ which upholds the academic orientation of students and also other wall-magazines of different departments.

The College has conducted add- on- courses on Basic Computer Literacy with an organization named G.P Computer and also a course on Spoken English for better communication in future life and on Mobile Repairing to enable the students to get hands on experience on the hardware and software of such devices and thus to procure a daily earning. The college has also organized a certificate course in co-ordination with

The University of Burdwan on Blood Donation so that students get a lucid idea on blood donation and eradicate all prejudices from their minds relating those. The College envisions widening scope of UG programmes by introducing new subjects like Music, Education, Physical Education, and opening viable skill-development Diploma and Certificate courses in Communicative English, and Stitching. The College intends to offer Distance Mode of Study Centre of different Universities and an earnest endeavour is taken to implement such distance learning courses. Our College, though a small one, with limited staff and resources ensuresready academic development with proper co-ordination among academic panel, students and alumni.
